This is the story of our Donegal Days, Stormy, Rainy, Winter, Payday, Summer, Brighter Days and Aurora.
A Stormy day starts bright, then rainclouds start to gather slowly grey, greyer and black. Then flashes of colour & white of the thunder and lightening followed by black driving rain for the emerald verdant growth to a new bright day.
A Rainy day starts a soft grey before the black downpour, before too long the day lifts and becomes bright and colourful – all the wonderful colours of Donegal.
A Winters morning starts grey, as the sun lights up you get a wonderful sky for a short bright day. It darkens as the sun goes down followed by a wonderful warm coloured sunset black night.
PAYDAY -Shhhh! The unspeakable day, for some a day they cannot wait for, others a day they dread. Be you an employer going from black to red or an employee going from the red to the black – time for the party to begin followed by a dark hangover and the thoughts of more bills to pay.
A Summers day. Having survived the shock of the previous days a summer day in Donegal is a wonderful day, a soft gentle day to relax upon a beach, a grassy knoll or a mountain and just take in the wonderful views.
Brighter Days- They say the darkest hour is just before dawn, but as the sun rises, fingers of light begin to streak the sky with tones of pinks, yellows and aquamarine, the dawning of a brighter day. As the sun rises ever higher, burning away the early morning mist, the sky clears away to a bright clear blue, the blue of a beautiful sunny day. Under the heat of the sun, the earth comes to life, Lush green grass grows underfoot, summer flowers bloom, foxgloves, fuchsia, dandelions, buttercups. Parties and get-togethers, meeting friends and family, hugs and kisses, champagne in celebration. As day turns to evening, and the sun begins to sink slowly, the horizon blazes orange and red, the glorious sunset at the end of the brighter day..
Aurora – The start of a brighter day, when from out of the darkness of night, the morning sky takes on a rosy glow, streaks of soft yellows, pinks and blues appear as the sun rises, gradually fading into the bright blue sky of the day.
